Road Tax and Permit Compliance Checklist for Taxi Owners

Keeping your taxi compliant saves you from fines and off-road downtime. Use this checklist to stay on top of renewals.

Road tax Pay before the due date every year. Keep the tax receipt (original or printout) in the vehicle. If you operate in multiple states, check entry tax requirements (e.g. UP, Rajasthan) and pay in advance.

Permit Your tourist or contract carriage permit must be valid. For All India operations, ensure AITP is renewed. Display the permit copy as required by your state.

Fitness certificate Commercial vehicles need a valid fitness certificate. Renew before expiry and keep a copy in the vehicle.

Insurance Third-party insurance is mandatory; comprehensive is recommended. Ensure the policy is in the vehicle and valid.
